I worked at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for many years at the front desk, bell services and as a convention coordinator.
from kids darting in and out with ice-cream to soup spills the staff did an excellent job keeping on top of everything and the boat was good and clean.Food: We found the food to be on the pretty good-to-excellent side. Meals were tasty and a wide variety of choices (which include cultural specialties).Buffet is well stocked and fresh ~ remains consistent the entire trip. 13 cruise - first sailing New York to Port Canaveral, Nassau and their private island. Quite disappointed: kids always in adult pool and hot tubs with no adult supervision; three piece band by the pool was unprofessional - female singer was even using sheet music for the words; poor ventilation in casino - smoke was horrific; ATM didn't work half the time and they indicated it was because we were out at sea and didn't have good internet connection (I have been on 19 other cruises with no problem); cabin staff rude in the hallways; Manhattan dining room staff not friendly, waiter never introduced himself, asked how I was, where I was from, etc., minimal conversation and rushed us out; immature and incompetent Cruise activity staff (couldn't even plan a simple hot dog eating contest -- 30 minutes late because they couldn't find enough hot dogs for three contestants, and when they did the buns were all different sizes, etc.); narrow hallways; interior rooms didn't even have a chair to sit in (couldn't use vanity chair as they put the mini-bar under the center of the vanity); bathrooms by main dining room were always overflowing with trash -- so much so that two different nights I used the wall phone to call housekeeping; Garden Buffet Cafe was poorly laid out and people traffic was constantly congested, and food was mediocre at best; when boarding no greeting, no direction, etc.I was not the only unhappy cruiser, as other people indicated they had also made a reservation on the Breakaway for December with their grandchildren -- but once onboard for a few days they went down to the cruise consultant to cancel it.I want to share some Disney World resort tips with you that hopefully will help you on your next Disney Vacation.
